...just the story of a third grade teacher who is planning a wedding, teaching, experiencing a long-distance relationship, and getting used to this thing called growing up...

Honeymoon :)

Today we went to Going Places Travel in Augusta, GA and finalized our honeymoon plans.

We are staying at Couples Negril in Jamaica. I am super pumped about it!!!!!! We are leaving the Monday after our Wedding for the trip. We are going to go to Atlanta that Sunday and stay there for the night and fly out the next day!!!!! One more thing crossed off my wedding honey do list.

Now its time to think of more important things with my entourage of bridesmaids and friends....the bachelorette party...whomp whomp :)

Merry Christmas to All

Wishing All My Bloggers a Little Merry Post Christmas! I am loving my break from the children but cannot wait to see them next week.... still have to plan but still cannot wait to see them!

But I got a new upgrade of a camera from Santa John. I love the pictures it takes and just love being able to take good fine quality pics. (PS I got it the night before Christmas... :) )

TGIWB

Thank goodness its Winter Break!!!!

I plan on spending my break with a whole lot of nothing. Maybe some wedding planning. But other than that, I don't want to do anything much at all.

Update to all, we did get a really great wedding band. The Appling Road Band is playing at our wedding and then recently played at the Home Extreme Makeover Augusta party with Ty Pennington and the gang!!!!

Mom recently had another surgery to help fix her mastectomy. Her mastectomy had fat necrosis and dead tissue in it from where it never latched. She went back under on Tuesday to have this fixed. Well by Thursday I had heard she is coming home. Well much to any of our surprise she had to go back under the knife to make sure the blood was flowing to the new muscle/tissue. She is still in the hospital as they never closed her up. We are waiting and praying each day that she makes it home. It just stinks to be at the Holidays and having to be in the Hospital. But don't you fret, Lou has her a baby Christmas Tree in the room. Just no stocking lol!!!!! All my blogger readers keep her in your thoughts and prayers so we can get her home FAST!!!!

P.S. John is home for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!

I survived my first Christmas Party...

Today I survived my first Winter Celebration (aka Christmas Party) as a teacher. We had TONS of food, ran around like a chicken with my head cut off and enjoyed the craziness. We watched the Polar Express in the morning, iced gingerbread cookies, drank hot chocolate and enjoyed each others company.
By 1:30 when we went to specials at a different time, I was ready for them to leave hyped up on candy and sugar. :)
I am so thankful for my job and my children in my class and remind myself everyday they are the reason why I teach.

Tales of Multiplication Nothing....

My life is consumed with my class, which I love, and also trying to throw together a bomb.com Christmas party that will rock these kids world next Friday.
But for now my life is consumed with grading multiplication quizzes daily. We are working towards a pizza party and what is interesting, is that yes they hate taking them, but when I grade them and see the light bulb turn on when they have missed tons the day before and then make a 100 on that day, i get excited and want to dance for them!!!
As I get ready to fill my classroom with sugar plums and Polar Express filled stuff, I am pretty stoked about PJ day next Friday :). A great way to top off the Holiday Season. All that will be missing will be Casey to come help ring the bell with the children.
Stay Tuned..... Elf on the Shelf updates later this week. :)

All Great Thanks Must Come To An End..

Well with the Thanksgiving Holiday coming to a close on this Sunday evening, it is back to my Third Grade world tomorrow to see my 22 students who I know have missed me so!

John traveled back to North Charleston, to go back to teaching at Berkeley High School. Today was only fun because we were "hanging" out (which consisted of me in the spare bedroom with the desktop computer lesson planning and him in the den with the laptop lesson planning) like teachers do!

I am so thankful for him in my life right now because he gets me through the good days and even bad days. I have realized God really does have a plan for everyone. It takes being patient, not forcing something, and just.....waiting.
PTL for Desperate Housewives tonight! I am getting through this week and then off to Charleston this weekend to spend the weekend with John & get some Christmas shopping done!

Give Thanks...

I am thankful for all the many blessings that I have received over the past year!

Especially for my wonderful family, fabulous fiancee John, a stable job, and my great friends!!!!

What do you give thanks for??

Tales from The Third Grade...

Well I survived. Well, the first week and two days. After the first three days of having break downs during the day while the kids were away and break downs while I was there late in the afternoon, I finally have had 4 days with out any tears.
On Wednesday, November 10, I found out I got a job at a school out in Aiken as a third grade teacher. I started that following Monday. My world has been upside down ever since. My parents and I, as well as my WONDERFUL principal helped me get my room in some type of order that Saturday before my first day.

My little school :)

This school is very cute and very full wonderful co-workers who I can definitely call my friends. It is not anywhere close to my current residence with the best roomies ever (Mom & Dad), but after scooting up the road to I-20 and about 30-35 minutes later after getting off I-20 and on every little back road - BAM - you are at my school!!!

I have 22 wonderful little learners ready to soak in all that Ms. Sink has to share with them. I am still getting into the routine of getting up @ 5:30 AM and making my trek down the road. As soon as they come in - I know its all worth it because they are the reason why i teach!!!!

Now to the good stuff..... MY ROOM!!!! Well the room in the works!!!!

Now off to enjoy the Wednesday before Thankgiving with JOHN :)

Crisp, Cool Weather

As I enjoy my last weekend in Charleston for a while, I am sitting here enjoying my day, watching Clemson football, and loving life at this moment.

John's Berkeley Stags won their first round play off game last night against Camden. They will play Midland Valley Mustangs next Friday night at Midland Valley (MV). MV is right around the corner, outside of Graniteville. If everything works out right with getting someone to cover me for work, I will be there with Mom & Dad cheering on the Berkeley Stags!!!!

Last night I had dinner with Molly & Emily, two of my favorites from Winthrop and sisters of ZTA with me. We had a great time which made me feel like I was in college again catching up over a meal at White Horse or El Cancun or Sake (eateries in Rock Hill). We went to 17 North Roadside Kitchen. It was AMAZING!!! I had their Pot Roast that was on top of mashed potatoes. :)

Today while I am waiting on John to return home from his football meetings, I went to the store to get all the ingredients needed for Taco Soup. I first was introduced to Taco Soup by one of my families from Macfeat. I have made it before last year, and it is super easy!

Taco Soup

  • 28-oz can crushed tomatoes (make sure you get crushed and not diced!)
  • 1 can black beans, undrained
  • 1 can corn, undrained
  • 1 can red kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 packet hidden valley ranch salad dressing mix
  • 1 lb. ground beef , browned and drained

Combine all in slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours. Serve with cheese, sour cream and chips!

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!

It's Beginning to Feel like FALL

Finally, as it is November 2, it is starting to feel like FALL!!!!

As I burn my Yankee Candle Autumn Leaves (Casey can attest for it is the best candle known to man - next to Sun & Sand, our obsession with Yankee is unhealthy) and have my socks on, and just enjoy the leaves turning colors, its makes me appreciate every moment in life that I am given.

Starting tomorrow till the end of the school week, I will be subbing at the Middle School as the GT teacher while she takes the 7th graders to Space Camp. I went back when I was in Middle School and it was a blast. Now just an easy day of work these next three days with subbing & then off to Charleston one last weekend before the World of Retail takes my life over with the Holidays!

Here Comes the Bride...

(not real dress)

This past Saturday, while the Clemson Tigers were losing (sad times in my house), I was wedding dress shopping with my MOH & MOB. (Matron of Honor & Mother of the Bride ha!)

We went to Elegant Bridal and the service there is AMAZING. We were there from 10:00 (when they open) to almost 2:00. After trying on dress after dress after dress, and feeling overwelmed at times, we finally came to a conclusion about the dress of my dreams. I looked at mom while Traci walked away and told her I didn't want to go anywhere else to look, I loved my dress and love the store. Erin got her wedding dress from Elegant Bridal, so I was familar with everyone there when it came to getting my bridesmaid dress.

This weekend was full of wedding details, once John got to town, we went out to eat for the first time as an engaged couple just the two of us. We went to Takosushi and their food is out of this world. We also went to a bar with his Aunt and Uncle to hear a potential band play. Still have to contact them!

Sunday after church & Bush Family Lunch at his grandparents, we went and started to tackle the Registry at Bed Bath & Beyond. Two hours later, and only 4 pages done, we gave up and said another day or to tackle online. Well yesterday I spent alot of time adding online and deleting! It is even more fun just clicking then just scanning.

Hope everyone's Halloween was Spook-tacular & are starting a great week!

The Night Before Meeting the Photographer and All Through The House....

So last night I met with my photographer, Brooke Turner, and could barely sleep the night before because I was so excited! Well then we had a change of plans from a lunch meeting to a dinner meeting because her nanny for her most precious twins was sick. But I wouldnt let that rain on my parade and was super excited to meet her for dinner with Erin & Trish.
She is going to be a joy to work with and I am sooo excited! Everything is coming together and Mom & I are looking at dresses on Saturday morning before the Clemson game at noon. :)

Until then, have a happy hump day!!!

My Bridal Party

A little more about my bridal party, that I did not put on my wedding website.

Erin is my Matron of Honor (MOH). Erin and I grew up together from the day that I moved to my neighborhood Windtree. We used to spend our days after school watching Baywatch and eating Tositos and Cheese Dip. Oh the joy of the old days. I was a bridesmaid in Erin's wedding and actually her wedding is the wedding where John and I's attraction officially started. Erin has always been that great girlfriend who has always been there for me when I have been home in North Augusta. With her experience and knowledge she is going to be an amazing MOH. Erin is a nurse and is going back to school to be a Nurse Practitioner.

Trish is a bridesmaid. Trish and I have always known each other since she was friends with tons of my friends that went to USC and well I went to Winthrop. Well at Erin's bacherlorette party, we put it all together that my mom and trish's mom used to work together and were like the glue that kept each other together back in the nursing days. To think that years later, Me & Trish would be bffe and keeping up with each other constantly. Trish and I always have a great time and she is currently residing in Columbia working as a pharmacist.

Crystal is a bridesmaid. Crystal is my future sister-in-law. She recently married John's brother, Richard, in May 2010. She is a big part in John's life as his fashion consultant, advice giver, and keeping John in check. Crystal is a great friend to me, even before I was becoming a part of the family. Her humor, personality, and overall charisma, keeps me always want to hang out with her! Crystal is a PE teacher at a local middle school.

Casey is a bridesmaid. Casey and I went to Winthrop University together. Back in the day of when you would scope out the potential freshman coming to Winthrop for sorority recruitment, I realized a girl from Camden was coming to Winthrop. One of my dear friends lived in Camden for a brief stunt, so I made that be our common topic of conversation to first meet. To think that first conversation, would lead to millions more. I was in Casey's wedding recently in April 2010. She is that friend that is always there for me, and even more. We have been through alot together that has made her one of my dearest friends. Casey is currently living in Tampa, FL and working full-time while attending Law School.

Erica is a bridesmaid. Erica and I lived on the same hall freshman year at Winthrop University, and also joined the same sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. We became great friends, and like all friends have ups and downs, but we have that friendship that gets through everything. She is getting married in February 2011. We even were the same major, Early Childhood Education, so we actually were like in almost every class together. Erica is that person that helps light up a room and keeps the evening going through her humor and spunky personality. Erica currently works at a Kindergarten Teacher in Columbia, SC.

Lorna is a bridesmaid. Lorna and I both joined the same sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. We lived together numerous times in the lovely ZTA house. Lorna and I have this friendship that it doesnt matter if we talk every week (which we do) but its like the conversation can take off and never stop! We became super close our senior year, and even were each other's support team for when we both were going through graduate school. Lorna currently resides in Fredricksburg, VA and is crafting, coaching peewee cheerleading, and working a new job to get to that dream job (like myself).

Sam is a bridesmaid. Sam and I were a member of the same sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. We always knew each other, but became close once she joined ZTA. Sam is a complete individual who you can always have a good time with. Sam and I actually were roommates in the ZTA house our senior year, and actually shared the same room together and had a blast. Throughout the years we have stayed in touch and I would call Sam once of my close friends. Even at our yearly ZTA girls reunions its always like old times when we lived in our Harry Potter under the stairs room. Sam is currently residing in Myrtle Beach, SC and is working as a Recreation Assistant and Instructor.

Toni is a bridesmaid. Toni and I joined the same sorority Zeta Tau Alpha and were in the same pledge class with Erica as well. We were the the few freshman who actually joined ZTA that year. Toni and I lived on the same hall our freshman year. We were roomies in the ZTA house, and even lived together while she was finishing up her undergraduate degree and I was starting graduate school. Toni and I have always had great times and I really consider her a true friend to me. Toni is currently living in Clemson, SC and attending Clemson University working on her Masters/PhD.

Thats a little about the girls who will be standing up there with me when John and I become man & wife :)

Happy Monday everyone!

I'M ENGAGED

Well alright, I've gotta give up on the 10 days since I started it well over 20 days ago....

But some exciting news to my blogger readers is that I got engaged on October 16, 2010! We are having our wedding on July 16, 2011. I am sooo excited and have gotten so much done in one week that is kind of crazy!

We are super excited for the upcoming craziness of planning a wedding, getting us both back in the same area, getting married, going on a honeymoon, and living happily ever after! I am meeting with my photographer, Brooke Turner on Tuesday with my Matron of Honor, Erin & Bridesmaid Trish! I am super excited!!!! I have the church, reception, florist, and photographer all inked in and ready to go!

Day Four

Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot...
1. When will God show me a sign for his plan for me in life. As much as I love staying busy with subbing and working at the Gap, I truly feel that I am missing out on so much not being in my own classroom. To be practicing what I was taught, and to be implementing my awesome ideas, it is just not the same when subbing and being the classroom nazi.
2. When will I get to be the Big Kid I want to be. Living at home stinks - but heck its free and paid for and I have two awesome roomies - My parents. I am lucky to not have bills right now but I mean I just cannot wait to have my own space eventually.
3. When will it really get to be true fall weather and not this hot one day, cold only in the morning weather.
4. What will I do for halloween this year?
5. Will John and I really go to a corn maize this weekend? I love corn maizes! Ask Laine & Amye, they know my love for them :)
6. Where will the future place me. I am anxious with the direction mine and John's relationship is heading, and wondering where will I be next year. He is 99% sure he will not be at Berkeley next year, he wants to get back closer to home or with a new coach, so I wonder where we will be. This whole year apart thing has been rougher than ever; we did it last year, but I had grad school to keep me busy. This year its just I have a lot of sad days where I cannot wait till the weekend, not because I hate weekdays, because I know I will see him.
7. When will I get motivated to put up all my spring/summer clothes and pull out the fall/winter attire.
